"Dusty was an amazing girl, smart, joyful, playful, not a cross bone in her body and oh so forgiving.
Sadly Dusty went to sleep on September 1, 2011. We have had the tremendous joy of having her as a huge part of our family
for over 18 years.
She is deeply missed. She was beautiful and loving to the end, although her extreme playfulness left her about a year earlier.
During her final year every once in a while she'd run like she did and try to be as playful as ever,
even though it was at a much slower pace. She was loved by all who met her and loved everyone back.
She was extremely smart and remained curious throughout her life.
One of the funniest things I will always recall is when she scared away a black bear mother & two cubs. They were around
an apple tree near the back of our property and Dusty was close to the house on her leash. Dusty spotted them, gave a bit of a
growl and stood up on her back legs like a grizzly. She woofed once to get the bears' attention. They took one look at her
and scurried into bush, such a menacing sight. When they left Dusty went back to walking around on all fours and then
strutted into the house like the victorious warrior she was." the Hawke family
